It's time to shift into overdrive and gear up for the 10th annual Mini Indy charity race sponsored by SkyWest Airlines, the City of St. George and Dixie State College. Mini Indy takes place in southern Utah during the second weekend of March, and the 2010 event promises to be more exciting than ever with returning champions, new vendors and opportunities galore for networking. Still, we all know the real reason you come is the glory of the checkered flag!

Mini Indy brings together teams from international and local businesses, community leaders and various civic groups to race miniature Indy-style cars through a twisting course. Funds raised from this event help support the United Way Dixie. The organization helps hundreds of local people every day by funding non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organizations. The United Way Dixie solicits local funding from employee donations, matching corporate contributions and events such as the Mini Indy.

The three-day charity event kicks off with the Mini Indy Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament help fund the SkyWest Scholarship Program. Teams are invited to bring and display Mini Indy trophies from past years at the Pre-Race Banquet, yes, even the [ahem] “pity” award is included. And of course the silent auction at the banquet always comes with surprises. All auction monies go directly to United Way.

Based in St. George, Utah, SkyWest Airlines is the nation's largest independently owned regional airline. Twice named Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World, the airline currently operates more than 1,500 daily flights to 150 cities throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico under marketing agreements with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. SkyWest is proud to partner with the City of St. George and Dixie State College to bring Mini Indy to St. George each year.
